Educational programming for children has seen a significant decline in recent years, with Nickelodeon ratings dropping 86% from 2016 to 2023 according to Yahoo Entertainment News reporter Kayla Cobb. This reduction in quality children's content has created a gap that literary company Escriba Articles Library aims to fill through a comprehensive digital publishing initiative.
Founded by Liam M. West, a member of the Ohio Writers' Association who began writing at the elementary school level, Escriba Articles Library specializes in multi-liberal arts mediums with a mission to craft literary arts that elevate the spirit and develop the soul. The company has published its first science fiction fantasy short story "The Green Locket: Essence of Destiny" through Amazon Kindle Direct, featuring a young woman from a distant galaxy discovering her destiny through a journey involving love, war, and magic.
West, who previously created educational materials including the children's song "If You're Sick Eat Watermelon" and the book "Positive Relationships: Be the Best," emphasizes the importance of providing positive role models for children. "I take pride in my work, and definitely humble myself," West said. "But I enjoy giving hope to those that need a helping hand."
The company's broader initiative includes plans for an online specialty library bookstore, 19 children's songs with storylines available on digital music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, and 10 self-published books on databases including Barnes & Noble. The company also maintains a YouTube channel dedicated to children's content.
This expansion into digital children's content comes at a critical time when traditional educational programming has diminished. Escriba Articles Library's approach combines storytelling across multiple formats to engage young audiences while providing mentorship through positive narratives. The company's marketing campaign across multiple platforms aims to pave the way for more insights in the media industry regarding educational content delivery.
The initiative represents a response to what West identifies as a need for role models to help guide children toward paths that can leave legacies for future generations. By leveraging digital distribution through established platforms, Escriba Articles Library seeks to make educational and inspirational content more accessible to children and teenagers worldwide, potentially influencing better outcomes through positive messaging and engaging storytelling.
