Beth McCall’s ‘Hello Peace’ Offers Women a Path from Fear to Freedom in Christ

Registered dietitian and sports nutrition specialist Beth McCall has released her debut book, Hello Peace, published by Lucid Books, a hybrid publisher based in the Houston area. The book invites women to replace fear, comparison, and shame with lasting peace in Christ, drawing from McCall’s personal journey through an eating disorder, pregnancy, and motherhood.

In a culture that often pressures women to meet impossible standards, Hello Peace offers a countercultural message: lay down the pursuit of perfection and embrace an identity rooted in God’s unchanging love. McCall, founder of ‘Purposeful Fueling,’ blends her personal story with biblical truth, practical reflection, and guided journaling prompts to create what she calls an interactive spiritual companion.

“I’ve always felt closest to Scripture and to Jesus through journaling,” said McCall. “This book was born during a season of deep prayer while I was pregnant with my son. I was wrestling with fear, identity, and old wounds, and I sensed the Lord gently leading me to take what He was teaching me in private and turn it into something that could encourage other women.”

The book moves beyond memoir, inviting readers to reflect on their own stories through journaling prompts and Scripture-based application. McCall’s transparent storytelling aims to help women process their experiences and discover that true peace comes not from changing themselves but from allowing God to transform their hearts.

“This book doesn’t simply tell my story,” McCall explained. “It invites readers into their own. My hope is that every woman who opens these pages walks away knowing she is not alone, that she is deeply loved by God, and that He is not calling her back to who she used to be. He’s calling her forward into who she is becoming.”

As a registered dietitian and sports nutrition specialist with over a decade of experience working with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, McCall has spent her career helping people pursue physical wellness. Yet she argues that lasting health extends beyond nutrition and fitness. “Our culture spends so much time teaching women how to change their bodies,” she said. “God wants to transform our hearts. Real freedom comes when our identity is anchored in Christ instead of our reflection in the mirror.”

McCall credits her faith, along with the encouragement of her husband and growing family, for inspiring both her writing and her ministry. Writing Hello Peace taught her that vulnerability is not a weakness but an act of obedience. “One of the greatest challenges was having the courage to share the parts of my story that are still tender,” she said. “But I’ve learned that God often uses the places where we’ve experienced healing to help bring healing to others.”

For aspiring authors, McCall offers simple advice: “Just begin. I never started journaling because I planned to write a book. I simply had something on my heart and followed where God was leading. If you feel even the slightest nudge to write, take that first step and stay open to what God might do with your story.”

Hello Peace is now available through Lucid Books, an independent hybrid publisher that offers the connections and expertise of a traditional publisher with the author involvement of a self-publisher. For more information on Lucid Books, visit lucidbookspublishing.com.

The book speaks to women navigating pregnancy, motherhood, body image struggles, or simply searching for a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ. It reminds readers that peace is not found by striving harder but by surrendering fully to the One who created them.
