Biotechnology founder and industry veteran David Craig has expanded the format options for his book 'The New Rules of Biotech: A Founder’s Guide to Building Great Companies,' now available in hardcover and as an audiobook on Google Play, joining the previously released paperback and Kindle editions. The book offers a strategic framework for founders, investors, board members, and operators navigating the changed biotech landscape since 2021.

Craig, who founded Sarcomatrix Therapeutics Corp. and has worked in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry since 1986, writes from the premise that the old playbook no longer applies. Capital is more expensive, the FDA bar has shifted, and the Inflation Reduction Act has altered drug economics before approval. Investors now demand capital efficiency and a clear path to value, moving away from funding ideas alone.

The book provides specific guidance on modern company building, including choosing between a platform and an asset, selecting an affordable modality, raising seed rounds against milestones, and using non-dilutive capital strategically. It covers IND-enabling work, CMC, clinical decisions, term sheets, board dynamics, business development, and exits such as acquisitions and IPOs.

Each chapter includes takeaways for operators and separate insights for investors and advisors, making the material relevant for both sides of the table. The audiobook version allows listeners to absorb the content on the go, catering to those who prefer audio learning.

Craig's motivation for founding his company stemmed from a family connection to a rare genetic muscle disease, RYR-1 related congenital muscular dystrophy, which underscores the book's argument that biotech company building carries a responsibility beyond financial returns.

'Founders and operators take in ideas in different ways,' said Craig. 'The hardcover is there for the people who want a durable copy on the desk, the paperback and Kindle for everyone else, and the audiobook on Google Play for those who prefer to listen on the move. The message is the same across all of them: build for the market that exists now, not the one that existed in 2021.'

The hardcover edition is priced at $29.99, the paperback at $21.99, and the Kindle edition at $11.99, all available through Amazon. The audiobook is available on Google Play.

Published by D. Craig Consulting LLC, the book falls under the category of Business and Money, Business Development and Entrepreneurship, with an original publication date of June 8, 2026. This release offers an updated resource for those looking to understand and succeed in the evolving biotech industry.
