Bestselling author Jody Sharpe has released the sixth installment in her Mystic Bay Series, 'The Dog Who Came For Christmas, An Angel's Tale,' which intertwines her lifelong passions for animal rescue and combating bullying within her established theme of angels living on Earth. Sharpe, a retired special education teacher, draws from personal experience to address these social issues through fiction.
The new book features meteorologist and psychic Gayle Force Knight, who receives an angelic vision prompting a rescue mission. Sharpe stated in a recent blog post that the novella serves as "a love letter to all the animals" she and her husband have rescued over the years. She emphasizes the connection between how individuals treat children and animals, noting, "Those who treat our children poorly are clearly those who could also be animal abusers. The bully never wins in my fantasy Mystic Bay Series."
Sharpe's work has gained recognition through multiple awards. She recently received an honorable mention in the 2024 National Federation of Press Women's Professional Communication contest for her novel 'Summer of Angels.' This marks her fourth NFPW award, following 2023's first-place national win in the novella category for '20 Moon Road, An Angel's Tale.' Her memoir, 'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder,' which details her 25-year teaching career, placed second in the NFPW At-Large Communication contest.
The Mystic Bay Series, set in a fictional California town where angels live incognito among humans, consistently explores themes of kindness overcoming adversity. Previous titles include 'Town Of Angels,' which directly addresses bullying, and 'The Angel's Daughter,' focusing on secret-keeping. Sharpe also authored the children's book 'When The Angel Sent Butterflies,' aimed at ages 2 to 7, to comfort children by suggesting angels are near.
Beyond her published works, Sharpe maintains a website featuring a "Tuesdays With The Angels" blog section where she shares real-life angel encounter stories submitted by the public. Submissions for these stories are accepted via an online form. She also produces related content on her YouTube channel, including segments on bullying, particularly concerning special needs children.
Sharpe's broader impact includes being selected as a winner in the annual "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading" Book Awards through public voting. She has also developed screen treatments for two of her books, 'The Angel's Daughter' and 'Town Of Angels Christmas,' indicating potential adaptations. Her writing career began as a therapeutic outlet following personal losses, evolving into a mission to inspire readers through spiritual narratives.
