Acclaimed Chinese writer Xuemo has begun a Latin American lecture tour, with key events in Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico. His engagements focus on themes of wisdom, consciousness, and the human condition in the age of artificial intelligence.
In Peru, Xuemo was invited by the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) to deliver a keynote address titled "Wisdom and Transcendence in the Age of AI." The event marks the first anniversary of the Peruvian Chinese Language Institute. Distinguished attendees included USIL President Dr. Jorge Talavera, Dean of Humanities Dr. Justo Balmaceda, and Director of the Language Research Center Dr. Rocío Baldárrago.
Xuemo, recipient of the 2025 New York City Big Book Award and the 2025 International Book Awards, is one of China's most celebrated contemporary authors. His works, translated into more than 30 languages, explore consciousness, compassion, and the human quest for meaning.
Following his appearance in Peru, Xuemo joined Professor Xintang Sun at the Universidad Nacional de José C. Paz (UNPAZ) in Argentina for a lecture titled "Wisdom Beyond the Age of AI." Hosted by UNPAZ President Dr. Darío Kusinsky, the session was part of the university's "International Week of Science, Art, and Knowledge Production" and was livestreamed on the university's official YouTube channel.
On November 13, Xuemo returned to USIL to present his new Spanish-language book "The World Is a Reflection of the Mind," published by the Latin American Publishing Group. His tour continues in Chile with a lecture at the University of Magallanes, an appearance at the Santiago International Book Fair, and a literary dialogue at GAM Bookstore in Santiago.
The tour will culminate with a lecture at El Colegio de México and Xuemo's participation in the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL Guadalajara), marking the finale of his cross-cultural journey. Earlier this month, Xuemo appeared on France's MANDARIN TV program "Dialogue in Paris," reflecting on the enduring resonance of Silk Road civilization.
Speaking about modern societal challenges, Xuemo emphasized that as artificial intelligence reshapes human life, humanity must cultivate a new kind of wisdom to accompany technological advancement. "In an age of turmoil, anxiety, and uncertainty," Xuemo said, "each of us must illuminate our own heart with love and wisdom. When every individual lights up their inner world, the whole world will shine."
This lecture series is significant as it facilitates a direct cultural and philosophical exchange between Eastern and Latin American intellectual communities. Xuemo's focus on inner wisdom and compassion as counterbalances to technological disruption offers a timely perspective for readers and industry professionals navigating the rapid integration of AI into creative and daily life. The tour underscores the global reach of contemporary Chinese literature and the universal appeal of its thematic explorations.
