Gabriele Gobbo, founder of the Italian Apple community Italiamac, has released "The Adventures of Cupertino: A Read & Color Tribute to Apple's Story" in the United States. The 74-page book, already successful in Italy where it reached Amazon bestseller lists, uses coloring activities to teach children about Apple's technological milestones beyond mainstream devices like the iPhone.
The book covers 13 historical moments, intentionally including what Gobbo calls "glorious failures" alongside iconic successes. "I wanted to go beyond the hits," Gobbo explained. "To understand Apple, you have to understand the experiments. That is why you can color the Pippin console, the Newton, and the G4 Cube. It is about showing kids that innovation is a messy, beautiful process."
Content ranges from the wooden Apple I of 1976 to modern devices, with special attention to lesser-known products that shaped Apple's development. The book also contains word searches and drawing prompts for extended engagement. This approach aligns with Gobbo's work in digital literacy education, where he advocates for active rather than passive technology use.
"I wrote this book with the same mindset I use in university classrooms," Gobbo said. "I wanted to create a tool that explains the magic of innovation without the distraction of a screen. It is about understanding the machine, not just staring at it." As Vice President of the Digital Security Festival and winner of the 2023 "Golden Communicator" MCC Digital Award, Gobbo focuses on helping families move from what he terms "Digital Sleepwalkers" to engaged technology users.
The book represents an independent educational project not affiliated with Apple Inc. It is available globally through Amazon in paperback format. For Italian readers, the book previously achieved notable success on Amazon.it, ranking as the #2 Most Gifted book in Science Biographies and entering the Top 20 Bestseller list in Inventions for Kids.
This release comes at a time when educators and parents increasingly seek alternatives to screen-based learning. By presenting technology history through hands-on activities, "The Adventures of Cupertino" offers a tangible connection to digital innovation's human story. The book serves both as educational material and as a conversation starter between generations about technology's evolution and creative process.
